Got it, read it … waiting for the rest of you … 6

No, no spoilers here. I’ll hold my tongue

Picked up JR’s latest in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series, Lover Unbound this morning. Talked to Janine, the lady in charge of the romance section. They had about 20 copies come in and none of them were going to reach the shelves this morning. So I’m really glad I at least had the sense to have her put a copy aside for me. But I’m still bummed that Amy got her copy early. I really think JR should be getting her publishers after Chapters for releasing it early. It’s just not fair. *grumble grumble*

I sat down and read it all the way through. Wow. All I’ll say is it’s not your typical romance. I know a lot of you are still be reading it, so I won’t say anything other than …. it is … different. Homoerotica. Bondage and Domination. Betrayal. Sacrifice – on so many levels.

It’s a book I’m going to end up reading a few times because I think the more you read this one the more you’ll get out of it.

Oh, and Phury’s story is introduced in this one … and looks quite interesting. And I think my suspicions are true regarding what she’d hinted at in Dallas for Phury’s future are right. But damn it now I have to wait for it!

I have it in my hot little hands, but for some reason I’m scared to crack it open. I think I’m hesitating because the faster I jump in, the quicker it will end.

Oh man, this is a whole session with my therapist, isn’t it…

LOL, it reminds me of a comment my mother made to me once. Whenever she served frosted cake, I’d always eat the cake first and the icing last – which she said was the reverse of most kids who went for the sweet stuff first. I said I was saving the best for last. That’s all you’re doing.

Just like that Carly Simon song … Anticipation … (Rats, now I’ll have that going through my head all night.)

Email me and we can discuss it because I am DYING to talk to someone about it. AHHHHHHHH!!! plus you have to tell me what she said about Phury.

I picked it up after work yesterday. I got the last copy…

I started reading it, but I think I’m going to wait and read it on the plane on Friday. It will keep me sane.

Finished!! WOO HOO – that woman is turning up the heat with each novel!
    I can’t wait to read Phury’s story.
Before the next one comes out, I’m going to amuse myself and reread the first 5. That should keep me in Brotherhood mode 🙂 and help fight the impatience at having to wait so long for the next book.

So, what did JR hint at?? WHAT??

What was with all the acronyms? Did you find they got annoying after a bit or was it just me?

  • Leah Braemel

Yeah, the acronyms bugged me – I had to go out and google a few of them, but then again that’s happened in one of her previous ones. OPP for instance, and BMOC from either Butch’s or Szadist’s stories.

Another thing that I noticed is she had Jane – a Harvard trained surgeon from a fairly upper class family, and probably private schools all the way – using speech or thoughts that sounded more like the BDB’s thoughts. Only a couple times but enough that it jarred me.

Oh, and … hmm, don’t want to leave any spoilers, but I still can’t quite figure out some of the logistics of the ending and how Jane’s going to do what she plans to do…
