Another InkyGirl comic for you – in this one I see Ed as being my internal editor. 😉 The one thing with NaNo is you’re not supposed to edit, you’re supposed to just keep moving forward. I think that’s useful for someone who has never finished writing a novel before, writing 50K doesn’t phase me at all. But I’ve realized that I do need to edit if there’s a major plot point that needs to be change earlier on. I’m not bothering worrying about word choices or even layering, but the plot has to be right or it bothers me too much and I can’t move forward.
I was up ill half the night – but after another nap at noon, and plenty of acetaminophen, I still managed another 1741 words today. I’ve written a total of 20K within one week. It’s not a record for me – I once wrote 80K in two weeks. But I think these are good words (Phew!) and I really like some of the surprises the characters are giving me. Sam’s back in this one, though he’s not being a very nice guy. He’s looking out for Chad…but I’m glad he got his story first, because I’m not sure people would like him as a hero after this. Then again there’s always that ‘redemption’ factor readers love to see.
For the rest of the day though, I’m going to switch to the western and edit it some more. I can’t believe we’re done the first week of November already. I had hoped to have that story subbed in early October. Ah, well, I’ll keep plugging away.
