As you know, some of my guest bloggers hold contests where they give away copies of their books or other swag. As do I. But I’m wondering — just how long should I be leaving the contest open for people to comment before I draw a winner? I’ve experimented a bit. Since most of my guests visit on Wednesday, I’ve done the route of “you have to comment by midnight tonight” and announced the winner the next day. But to be honest, I don’t always get to my regular blogs every day and kick myself later for having missed a contest (yes, I like to win books too!) So I’ve tried leaving comments open until the following Tuesday. But what I’ve noticed is that usually the comments stop after Friday. So I’m thinking I’ll split the difference and give you until Friday night (that’ll give you three days to catch up on your blog reading) and post the winners on Saturdays.
What do you think? For? Against? Let me know by leaving a comment. Oh, and don’t forget, by commenting, you are entered in my Reader’s Appreciation contest each month.
