Where’d that come from? 14

Promo has been tiring me out, and I figure you’re ready to see something a little different, so I dragged out an old favorite. Name that movie.  I give you a line and you tell me what movie it’s from.  There aren’t any prizes, just have fun and see how many you recognize. Some are new, some are old,  one’s not “technically” from a romance, and the lines aren’t all from the hero or heroine.

1. You know the Greeks didn’t write obituaries. They only asked one question after a man died: “Did he have passion?”

2. I’m that dog who saw a rainbow, only none of the other dogs believed me.

3. I’m just a girl standing in front of a boy asking him to love her.

4. Not all tears are an evil.

5. Can I have one last first kiss?

6. And in that moment, everything I knew to be true about myself up until then was gone. I was acting like another woman, yet I was more myself than ever before.

7. I’m Henry the 8th I am. Henry the 8th I am I am. I got married to the widow next door. She’s been married seven times before

8. I couldn’t love you any more if you were my own son. But the fact of the matter is, you’re… well you’re a putz.

9. You can take the girl out of the honky tonk, but you can’t take the honky tonk out of the girl.

10. You should be kissed and often, and by someone who knows how.

    Thanks for the memory jog!

I don't want to wreck it for anybody else, but in alphabetical order, they start with: 5BGHKLNSTT. The two T's are The, and they next have BG….

    Have a great Sunday!

Okay I only know 2 of those movie lines,
    #3 is from Notting Hill,
#10 is from Gone with the Wind… I think
#8 is from Nobody's Fool, starting my fav Paul Newman…

There are a couple I think Iknow, but can't for the life of me think of the titles of the movie.

  • Leah Braemel

Laney – are the first letters from the titles, and you put them in alpha order? Geez, talk about brain strain … I'll have to sit down and figure out if you're right.

Kathleen — you were right the first time, you knew 2. #8 isn't from Nobody's Fool (unless the movie I was quoting stole it from there)

  • Laney4

    Hi again!
    Okay.
    #1 – S
    #2 – K&L
    #3 – NH
    #4 – L..R
    #5 – 5FD
    #6 – TB..C
    #7 – HH (the group;is there a movie?)
    #8 – TG
    #9 – B&D (the group;is there a movie?)
    #10- G..W

  • Leah Braemel

Laney — you were doing so well, until you hit #7. #7, 8, and 9 are wrong. The rest are correct. (For #9 see Skylar's answer, she's right.)

  • Laney4

Ah ha! So there IS a movie where these groups' songs were played. Interesting. Learn something new every day!
I'm waiting with baited breath to see the answer for #7.
As for #8, it was in The Godfather, but I guess you're looking for W..S. Silly me!

  • Leah Braemel

Yes, #7 is G, and I was looking for W…S for #8 (It was in the Godfather? I'll have to watch it again. Kathleen thought it was from a Paul Newman movie, maybe it's been used a lot, LOL)

For everyone else — yes, Herman's Hermits did the lyrics of Henry the Eighth first, but they were used (repeatedly) by a character in a movie. Didn't know #9 were lyrics too, sorry!

  • Laney4

#9 was sung by Brooks & Dunn. "You Can't Take the Honky Tonk Out of the Girl" is the name of the song.

  • Marley Delarose, Author

Well, duh, I can't even get them with the initials and hints. Fun though.

  • Chelsea B.

The only one I new was 9– Sweet Home Alabama! LOL The last one sounds familiar, but I can't place it….

Okay, I'll take pity on you (mainly because it looks like everyone's weighed in on this one). Here are the answers:

    1. The greeks didn't write obituaries — Serendipity

    2. I'm that dog who saw a rainbow, only none of the other dogs believed me.— Kate & leopold

    3. I'm just a girl standing in front of a boy asking him to love her.— Notting Hill

    4. not all tears are an evil.— Lord of the Rings: Return of the King

    5. Can I have one last first kiss — 50 First Dates (Did you know the movie was originally titled 50 First Kisses?)

    6. And in that moment, everything I knew to be true about myself up until then was gone. I was acting like another woman, yet I was more myself than ever before. — Bridges of Madison County

    7. I'm Henry the 8th I am. Henry the 8th I am I am. I got married to the widow next door. She's been married seven times before — as Laney pointed out, these are lyrics, From Herman Hermit's Henry the 8th song but they were also sung by the late great Patrick Swayze in Ghost.

    8. I couldn't love you any more if you were my own son. But the fact of the matter is, you're… well you're a putz. –While you were Sleeping

    9. You can take the girl out of the honky tonk, but you can't take the honky tonk out of the girl. — Sweet Home Alabama (Apparently these are also lyrics from Brooks and Dunn. Thanks Laney!)

    10. You should be kissed and often, and by someone who knows how. — gone with the wind –Rhett to Scarlett in Gone with the Wind.
