Editing might be a bloody trade. But knives aren’t the exclusive property of butchers. Surgeons use them too. ~  Blake Morrison

I’ve got my Final Line Edits in from Samhain Publishing for Deliberate Deceptions. While I often joke about being in edit hell, I like getting edits from my editors. 1st because it means the book is that much closer to getting released for you to read, and 2nd because my editor has caught my errors and I have a chance to make the manuscript even better. (And to be honest, 3rd, it’s so cool to be able to say “I got my edits.”)

Considering the number of times I’d already been over this story — and maybe because I’ve seen it so many times — I still had lots of “face meet palm” moments when I read the notes my editors left. Lots of “OMG I should have caught that myself!” moments. At this stage, the notes are usually about repetitive word usage. And also notes on things like how the characters’ eyes on page 76 were blue and on page 110 are gray. Ooops. In a paranormal I might be able to explain that away, but not in my contemporaries, LOL.So huge kudos to my editors for catching the stuff I’ve missed.

I also got a sneak peek at Deliberate Deceptions‘ cover. Once again the cover artists at Samhain have worked their magic. It’s so classy and lovely, and it captures Chad and Lauren, and the dynamics between them, perfectly.  I can’t wait until I get the word that I can share it with you.

And while I’m on the topic, Deliberate Deceptions is already up on Samhain’s Coming Soon pages. Here’s the link! Since Samhain’s updated their site,  you can now add it to your wishlist.

Everything is looking good Leah. Love the blurb for deliberate Deceptions. Reunited lovers – one of my fave premises.
