Monkey business 4

Last week I was struggling to open a banana — normally if they’re giving me problems I reach into the drawer, grab a knife and cut the stem off. My youngest son smirked, grabbed the banana, turned it over and said “open it like the monkeys do, Mom.” He pinched what I considered the bottom end and peeled it with no problem. I was gobsmacked.

I checked on YouTube and discovered millions have already figured this out, and instead of being one of the early adopters, I’m a hold-out. But it’s made me wonder what else in my life I’ve been doing the hard way and have started looking at everything I do wondering if there’s an easier/simpler way.

Have you learned any tricks or tips that made your life easier?

You know you open chip/cracker and other air sealed bags in a similar way? No, not from the ‘bottom’, πŸ˜‰ but with a pinch.

If there’s an open ‘seam’ at the back you can pull that down as well, but to get a nice clean opening you can reclose with a clip, grab on either side of the top and peel apart.

Hmm, why do I know how to get into chip bags the easy way?

Oh! And here’s one we just learned. Pomegranates? Lovely to taste, hard to eat? Cut it in half and place cut side down over a bowl. Hit the back with a spoon. Like thump it, hard, all over the place and the seeds will fall out instead of having to pick them out.

There, a healthy snack as well. πŸ˜‰

I think I may need a YouTube video for that “not from the bottom but with a pinch” tip, Viv. (Why does that sound like the premise of an erotica, LOL?)

Thanks for the pomegranate tip — definitely going to try that one.

Are you freakin’ kidding me? Why is that all our lives we struggle with the damned fruit and it’s THAT easy to open them?

Consider me gobsmacked. And LMFAO! Will have to show this trick to my kidlets…
