Cristal Ryder: On Beans and Books 1

Thanks so much for having me to your blog Leah. It’s great to be here!

I’ve started something new this past week. Well, it’s actually been ten days. Now before I tell you about it one thing you have to know about me is I have no willpower. None. Nada. Yes, I’m weak and give in to my cravings. Put a bag of chips in front of me or french fries and it’s all over. I was talking with my Ellora’s Cave editor before Christmas and she told me about a 21 day cleanse she had done and how she now follows a vegan lifestyle.

Vegan? Not on your life. My guy is in the beef industry and I call him my Meat Man. We get the BEST beef, so even entertaining a non-beef diet was ludicrous. This cleanse means no caffeine, dairy products, refined sugars, animal proteins, wheat/gluten. What’s left? But, I was intrigued. I needed to get my diet under control. I’m not getting any younger and it’s now or never to get on track. Sure, I’ve done all those other diets out there but for some reason this one excited me.

So, after procrastinating – I’m really good at that btw – I finally bought the book to help guide me. Then it took another week to open it and begin reading. A few days after that I went shopping based on the list in the book. I found pretty much everything I needed. It was an agonizingly slow grocery store visit. I had to read labels! Plus, it’s not cheap eating healthy. Finally at home, all the shopping bags sat containing their healthy goodness for quite a while on the kitchen floor. I eyed them now and then before I ventured to unpack. First I had to clean out the frig. Just so you have an idea of the state of my pantry, I’m Mother Hubbard. My oldest moved out in early January and the cupboards have been bare since then. I mainly stay at Meat Man’s house, so I didn’t really have the need to stock up here. By the end of the evening my frig and cupboards were full with all sorts of food. And boy did I feel good about it.

I made a bean salad the other day—yuck right? I used to think so, but I fiddled with this one until I got the flavouring how I liked it. The recipe is below, and remember, it’s suited to my tastes and you can always switch up the ingredients to suite yours!

Anyway, ten days have now past since I’ve changed my eating habits and I have eleven days left. There have been some noticeable differences, it’s not been hard at all to stick to and I’m quite satisfied. After the 21 days are finished that’s when I will begin to reintroduce foods and take note of their effect. Will I keep on with this diet? Time will tell, but I do believe it’s a high probability a good portion of it will continue.

What’s all this got to do with my recent release? Absolutely nothing J I just wanted to share something that has taken me completely by surprise. If you’re at all interested in the name of the book I’m following, please comment with your email and I’ll be happy to share.

Now on to my most recent release. Being Bound it is the sequel to Being Ariana. We follow our very alpha hero, Tom Rourke, into the second book where he encounters some exciting adventures. I’ll leave you with the blurb and excerpt as a little tease.

Being Bound Blurb

He refocuses his energy into ownership of the Black Phantom, where he meets Heather Canyon. Drawn into her erotic web, he can’t get her out of his mind. But can he trust her? The only way to know is to experience her first hand.

She must test him to ensure they are the right fit for each other and challenges him at every turn. She isn’t looking for a partner, but has she found her match with Rourke?

Their gaze met and he smiled, showing his white, even teeth. He was a handsome man. There was no doubt about that.

“Heather.” He reached his hand out and she waited for the jolt of desire when their palms met. She wasn’t disappointed.

“Rourke.”

His gaze boldly slipped from her face and took in her appearance. She stepped back and opened her coat for him so he could see what she wore. Heather slipped it off and held it out without moving her gaze from Rourke.

“Viktor.” She didn’t say anything more, simply his name as a test to see how responsive he was.

He scurried over and grabbed the supple leather as she dropped it, making sure it didn’t hit the floor, then disappeared behind the curtains of the stage.

No look of surprise crossed his face once her full costume was revealed to him and her small sense of disappointment intrigued her. She had expected a reaction and wanted it. But didn’t receive one. Her eyes narrowed ever so slightly and she watched his features. She knew she look perfect and sensed he was trying to remain unaffected.

“So then, shall we continue our discussion?” Heather turned and looked out from the stage. She moved to the edge and stood with her legs wide and hands resting on her hips.

“What more is there to discuss?” He was behind her and she felt his heat. It raised her body temperature and a sweet fullness began to settle between her thighs. Heather couldn’t deny she was highly attracted to Rourke. But for now, she would enjoy the edge it gave her and not fall prey to his seduction. His breath fluttered her long hair.

“Boundaries, rules, trust, salary.”

He chuckled and the deep rumble from his chest slipped around her like a thunderclap.

She turned to face him and before he could reply she continued. “You find that funny?” His smiled stayed, but an eyebrow shot up. “I can tell this is all new to you,” she said with a dismissive wave, the black leather arm sheath shining in the dimming light, “it is quite serious business not to be taken lightly.”

He stepped back from her and crossed his arms over his powerful chest, still not saying anything.

Heather continued in an even and firm tone, “I know of your club and didn’t come without, quite possibly, better knowledge than you.”

He shook his head, “I doubt tha—”

Heather put her hand up and he halted mid sentence. “I have certain expectations, as I’m sure you do.” She walked to the far side of the stage. She felt the weight of his gaze on her and almost smelled his desire. “I’d like to see the back rooms.” She swung her gaze back to him. His face showed his surprise. Did he really think I wouldn’t know? She could tell he was thrown off balance. She accomplished the most important feat in less than ten minutes. He had to feel her power and control and accept it. When he didn’t say a word and led her backstage, he had made it evident her power radiated over him.

Being Ariana Blurb

Ellie Taylor lives her erotic dreams by masquerading herself as Ariana and visiting the Black Phantom. In this club where anything goes, she plans to perform onstage before an audience, building her sexual excitement to a fever pitch before selecting her man. But Ariana is sidetracked by a tall, blond masked maitre-d. He captivates her and all thoughts of performing are forgotten. He’s every bit as domineering as Ariana and pushes her to her sexual limit. Their true identities concealed, they set out to use each other for pleasure–no risk of entanglement or commitment…but that may prove easier said than done.

And now we jump to my favourite thing…food.
