After trying to promo Hidden Heat’s release while dealing with several other deadlines at the same time, I realized I am not superwoman. I cannot manage to do all the promo myself as well as get the next book written. So after hearing a lot of talk about them at Lori Foster’s Reader and Author Get Together, I’ve set up a street team.
What’s a street team?
It’s sort of like a modern day version of a fan club — a group of people who have read my books (not even all of them) who will help me get the word out about upcoming releases. You don’t even have to get dressed up and leave the house.
We’ve created a private Facebook group where several very generous ladies (waves to Kayla and Tabatha) will co-ordinate things for me. They’ll remind the members when I have a new release coming up so you can pre-order it, or “like” the page on the various vendors sites, or create tags. (The more likes or tags a page has the higher up in the vendor’s ranking systems so a book will more likely be recommended in that all important “If you like that book, you might like this one” bar where a lot of people find new authors/reads.) If you have a blog, or are part of a group blog, you could blog about upcoming releases. There are some other things you can do if you’re a member of a book club, or if you’re attending any sort of reader event, but we’re learning as we’re going and you can find out more on the loop.
Members of the street team will get romance trading cards and swag they can hand out, and of course they can keep some for themselves too. And they’ll get T-shirts if they want them. I’m still working out the details but there may be more stuff members may get too. Like ARCs…
So if you’d like to be part of the team, leave me a comment. You have to friend me on FB if you haven’t already so I can join you. And if you’re not on FB, we’ll work something out so you can be kept in the loop.
