A lot of people have been tweeting and blogging about the swine flu – to the point where it’s now been so over-hyped people are fed up and are ignoring any and all advice. (Wash your hands frequently, sneeze into the crook of your elbow, not into your hands, if you feel sick, stay home!)

I must admit, I’ve basically been ignoring the reports, although I do all the above as a matter of course. (It’s easy to stay home when you’re a writer, LOL.) But yesterday Gizmo Guy mentioned this report about three local women who fell sick while they were vacationing in Mexico. They returned to Canada and went to the hospital where tests were taken. While the tests were sent to a lab for confirmation, the women were sent home.

What’s wrong with that? Well, one lives with her mother – who runs a frickin’ day care in the home and continued taking kids in. The women also went on “outings” – including a trip to a local casino!

What the #@$(! is wrong with these stupid @#$(&!@ people? Did we learn nothing from the SARS outbreak a few year back?

don mes wit me. iz serios.

You know, for the number of times I do these rants, I should get myself a “rant” photo like Wendy the Super Librarian uses. I adore her “Miss CrabbyPants” icon. It suits how I feel some days.

Did SARS teach us nothing?

So they were concerned enough to go to the hospital, not concerned enough to limit their exposure to others. WTF?!

Wendy, that’s exactly what my hubby and I were saying. The health unit shrugged it off and said there wasn’t much they could do if people didn’t want to stay home. Arrrgh.
