I love today’s guest, Red Garnier. She’s one of those authors who have been there for me from the start. I met her on-line at first, as a fellow commenter over on Wylie Kinson’s blog. Then later in the summer of 2007, we arranged to meet in person while we were both in Dallas at the Romance Writers of America’s annual conference. Red very bravely read a manuscript I was about to pitch to an editor and told me to go for it.

When I started writing Personal Protection, I was thinking of her when I wrote my heroine Rosie Ramos. Even though Red’s a little lady, like Rosie, when she walks into the room, you know it. Talk about force of presence.  And supportive too. Red’s the one who gave me the tagline I use in my signatures “Passionate…Provocative…Decadent.”  (For the quote I took those words from, go to the Books page on my website and scroll down to beneath Private Property’s listing.)

I was thrilled for her when I learned she had an agent, and had received a contract with NAL for her The Satin Sash.. So when I learned she had more books coming out this summer, both from NAL (The Feather) AND Harlequin (The Secretary’s Bossman Bargain), I couldn’t contact her fast enough to invite her to be my guest.

Read her post, and you’ll find out what you have to do to win a copy of her sexy menage The Satin Sash. (And maybe we can add my own Texas Tangle to her summer reading list?)

What I Love Most About Summer

For months, I’ve been looking forward to summer. Not only because the sun makes me feel energetic, but because there’s always the possibility of a beach, a good book, and a piña colada.

What I love most about summers is wearing light, breezy dresses and sandals, finding the perfect shade on a perfectly sunny day – with just the right amount of breeze – and letting a great book sweep me away.

My summer reading list is immensely long this year, and I plan to go through with all of it. It includes tons of amazing books, including those delicious Silhouette Desires written by Paula Roe, Michelle Celmer, Tessa Radley, Robyn Grady, Charlene Sands, Jennifer Lewis, Leanne Banks, and Maureen Child among others, to reading sexy romantic suspense by Lora Leigh and Lorie O’Clare. In my pile I’ve also got tons of sexy books I want to read by Lorelei James, Maya Banks, and Lauren Dane.

What’s in YOUR reading stack this summer?

The reason I’m also quite stoked about this particular red-hot summer is due to the fact that I have not one, but two releases out! The first, out this month, is THE FEATHER, a “strange and exciting story” about reincarnated lovers. I absolutely love the theme of undying love in this story and if you like stories that are different and unexpected, I hope you pick up THE FEATHER

My next release is out in July, and it is my first Silhouette Desire. THE SECRETARY’S BOSSMAN BARGAIN is a truly sexy story and one which I adored writing. Marcos and Virginia have such palpable chemistry it felt magical sometimes, how I could feel their yearning for each other just leap off the pages. If you’re a category reader then I truly hope you take a look at my debut Desire, too. I hope you enjoy!

Leah, who’s so kind to invite me over to blog today, offered a free copy of THE SATIN SASH – my sexy ménage romance – to one lucky commenter today, so don’t be shy and share what you like about summer…or tell us what you plan to snuggle up with! I’d love to know what’s in your reading stacks this summer!

Oh I am loving your covers. And the books sound great. Thanks for the opportunity to win one.

OH gosh, that sounds like an awesome book! I love the summer time because it gives me a chance to go outside and enjoy cutting my grass, watching the sun go down from my porch… and just simply life slows down a bit.

And snuggling up reading… anything and everything I can get my hands on!!!

I'm especially looking forward to the end of summer since it's so hot where I live 😛
But while the unbearable heat is here I'm looking forward to taking my girls to the pool. It's baby's first summer so it'll be the first time she gets to dip her toes in the cool water.
I have a huge TBR pile so I would love some time to read 🙂 I have 2 Rough Rider books to catch up on and a whole stack of Harlequins waiting on me 🙂
Congrats on the release this month, Red!

Ack, I am not looking at any new books! I have so many to read it is insane, so this summer I am trying to plow through my TBR pile. And what's sad? I don't even know what's in it!!

Also, please don't enter me in the contest, I own and have read The Satin Sash, and absolutely loved it!

  • June 15, 2010 at 1:49 pm

I have finished my TBR pile and will be reading anything I can get my hands on.

    Hi Red
I loved Color My Heart. Reckless & Yours blew me away. I love the reunited lovers premise. Looking forward to reading more of your books.

    I love summer because:
I play tennis & it's nice playing in the fresh air (when it's not too hot & muggy).

I love not worrying about a coat & gloves. Just get dressed, slip on a pair of sandals & you're out the door.

    Hi Leah

  • June 15, 2010 at 4:27 pm

Wow, Red's been one busy chick. Amazing.

No need to enter me for this, babe. I'm dropping in to say thanks for the e-mail. I've got this posted at Win a Book for you.

I have a whole lot of Carina Press books to read this summer as well as checking out the weekly offerings from Samhain and Ellora's Cave.

The thing I love most about summer is the ability to play in the pool with my son.

  • June 15, 2010 at 5:51 pm

Like elaing8, I too have a huge TBR pile. I am truly blessed. Some days I read one book and others, like today, I read up to three books. Who knows what I'll be reading this summer: both my already-bought books and not-yet-bought ones too!

What I'd like to snuggle with? Isn't that a little personal, LOL? Seriously, though, I'll be snuggling with a fleece blanket. I freeze every summer. DH sits on main floor without a shirt and in shorts. I sit there in a long-sleeved fleece top and jeans, still frozen. Ahhh, the joys of being in my forties and now fifties. Beats the alternative….

I know you wanted book names/authors, but there's way too many to list. Suffice to say, I'm looking forward to each and every one of them, all summer long.

I love the less scheduled time during the summer, the way it stays light out longer, summer fruit, and snuggling up with a good book 😉 I have a TON on the TBR; I'm starting off by catching up with a bunch of Lucy Monroe's titles…

Hi, everyone! Red sent me an email earlier today saying she was travelling but would try to pop in.

Fedora — the longer days of light. Oh my yes, I love when it's light til 9 at night. I really don't like days 8 til 4 light. The more sun the better.

Laney – your DH sounds like the way mine used to be, while I was always cold. But it's switched lately, now he's pulling up blankets and I'm kicking them off.

Sharon, so many books so little time, eh? I know the feeling, I'd intended to sit down and read tonight and then I looked at the clock and it's almost 10:30.

Mary G — isn't Red's writing wonderful? I envy you playing tennis, I don't have the depth perception for it. And yes! Not having to lug around the boots and gloves and hats. Definitely a bonus.

Estella, I know a book coming out in just over 12 days you can add to your list 😉

Natasha, you've taken on a lot this summer, reviewing and everything you've got going on.

Heidi – Ooh, there is a new Rough Rider book isn't there, thanks for the reminder.

Cecile — I like watching my boys cut the grass, and the smell of the fresh mown lawn afterwards. Life slows down? I'm still waiting for that to happen, mine seems to be speeding up. Maybe in July once Texas Tangle releases.

Andrea — welcome back! Yes, aren't Red's covers gorgeous?

  • June 15, 2010 at 6:31 pm

Oh no! I forgot my books TBR. I have books by Beth Kery, Shiloh Walker, Beth Williamson, Alison Paige & HelenKay Dimon. I met these wonderful ladies last weekend at Lori Foster's event.
Also Joyce Lamb & Rachel Gibson. Reading Crush On You by Christie Ridgway – funny hot book.

  • June 15, 2010 at 7:02 pm

Andrea, thank you so much! I absolutely love the covers, too. They totally 'get' the story and characters! So glad to hear you like them, too!

Cecile, I'm just like you! I read anything and everything and love every minute of it! 🙂

Heidi, thank you so much for the congrats and happy reading! I love those Harlequins and Lorelei's Rough Riders, too!

Elaing – yay! Best of luck! And I absolutely love the authors you mention, they are so outstanding. You can never go wrong with them!

Natasha, Big hugs! I'm thrilled to hear you've read and enjoyed The Satin Sash, thanks so much for stopping by!

Estella, you sound just like me. 🙂

Mary, Thank you so so much for the compliments, I'm thrilled to know you've read two of my novellas and enjoyed both! And I have to second your thoughts about summer: no coats, yay! 🙂

Susan, HEY!!! I've missed tou. How are you doing?! So great to see you here today!

Sharon, oooh, I love those epubs and am always snatching up their amazing authors, too!

Laney, I truly hope you have a wonderful time with them. It does sound like a marvelous summer awaits!

Flchen, Ooh I love Lucy! I first read her at Samhain and since then had to snatch up her awesome Kensington titles and her Presents!

Thank you all for coming, I wish you could all win today and wish you the very best this summer!

Leah, you're the most fantastic host ever, you are. 🙂

  • June 15, 2010 at 9:23 pm

Oh, hey, trying to catch up here. But I've been lazying around with the kids. I love Summer when we can enjoy time together by the pool. Its the only time I can play with the kids, then of course, lay out and read to my hearts content. And I plan to read all the last 2 months of releases. Have fun this summer, Red and Leah!!

  • June 16, 2010 at 1:09 pm

I enjoy the sun and the warmth seeping into my bones while I sit outside reading. I love grilling out and walking in the evenings enjoying the subtle noises of people enjoying the summer weather.

  • June 18, 2010 at 10:00 pm

I love summer, however, I don't love the heat. Ick! It got up to 95 here in KY. Too hot!! I do love the slowed-down pace that summer allows and the fun times with my kids when they have a later bedtime. I also LOVE have more hours of daylight! Last night it didn't get fully dark until about 9:30. Gotta love it!
