To welcome in summer, here’s a snippet of my couple from Unashamed (part of Northern Heat: Best Canadian Erotic Romance Stories anthology) enjoying a Canadian summer at a central Ontario resort. Where Max heats adds a little extra heat to their night a little more than Mother Nature already had…

Hand in hand, they wove their way through the tables, and once free of the party, hurried outside. Max slowed his pace to match Haley’s as they wandered the interlocking brick path to their villa at the farthest end of the resort. The nearly full moon sparkled off the lake to their left, the resort’s golf course a dark swath beyond. Twin rows of white lights sparkled from the ski lift ropes, a futile attempt to match the stars above, stars that were brighter than she’d ever seen from their balcony in Toronto.
Max made a noise of agreement, and wrapped one arm around her, his thumb stroking the tender underswell of her breast. That simple touch both comforted her and excited her.
Other than the sound of the waves lapping at the shore, and the occasional cricket serenading them, they continued along the path in silence.
When Max removed his arm to find his cardkey, Haley shivered at the loss of his touch. Once he’d unlocked the door, she walked into the living room of their suite. A living room bigger than her parents’ living room, dining room and kitchen combined. And the bedroom? The room swallowed the massive king sized bed, making it look more like a double. A fireplace, which would have been great to sit in front of on a snowy day. Maybe they could come back during the winter; even though she couldn’t ski, she’d always wanted to sip a hot toddy by a fire in a ski lodge. “I still can’t believe we got this place for the same price as a regular room.”
“Helps when you have connections.”
Connections? “What does that mean?”
She turned to see why he hadn’t responded and found him leaning against the door, watching her, his eyes assessing her, his hands toying with his ring, still shiny though they’d been married nearly a year. Though smaller and narrower than the silver class ring he wore on his right hand, he worried more about losing the yellow gold wedding band she’d bought him the night they’d impulsively married on a whirlwind trip to Vegas.
“What?” Her pulse kicked up a notch and she wondered what he’d planned. He’d surprised her on their one month wedding anniversary with a butterfly vibrator. Had he bought a new toy for them to play with?
“Just admiring the view.” He pushed off from the wall and tossed his jacket on the chair, then caught her by the shoulders. “Come here, you.”
Facing her away from him, he undid her zipper, the clasp cool in comparison to the heat of his fingers. “You look great in that dress, but you look even better out of it.”
With a flick of his fingers, he pushed the spaghetti straps from her shoulders. Her dress pooled at her feet, shortly followed by her slip.
He gave a nod of approval at her black demi-bra and matching panties. “I was going to strip you naked, but I think you should leave them on for a bit longer.”
She tugged at his shirt front. “Now you.”
Before she could undo any of his buttons, he cupped her face between his palms and caught her mouth in a commanding kiss. His hand moving over one breast, thumbing the nipple to a hard bead. A hard rod pressing against the fly of his jeans rubbed the tender skin of her belly. She met the thrusts of his tongue with as much pleasure as he gave her. By the time he withdrew, her head spun.
“I love you, Haley.” The fierceness in his voice staggered her, humbled her.
“I love you too, Max.” She wrapped her arms around his waist. When he did the same, she leaned against him. “Now, what’s this surprise you promised me?”
