This is not just happening with my book. I don’t know if this is part of the original glitch or something new but Amazon has changed something so you are not being shown their store’s item first. If you click the buy button on the side of the book’s page, you may not be buying from Amazon at all, and may not be getting the best price. So be vigilant…  (Don’t forget my books are available through other bookstores as well, so you do have options. The other day I mentioned that Amazon was glitching and paperback prices were doubling in some cases, and that it had affected my Feeding the Flames paperback in the US store.  They fixed it the next day, but yesterday I noticed that the Canadian Amazon store (Amazon dot CA as opposed to dot COM) had the price skyrocket up to $17.  I must admit I figured it was part of the glitch and it would work itself out. Then just as I was about to close out the screen, I noticed it says this beneath the Buy button

screenshot of a box that says "Secure Transaction", then below it says Ships from United Kingdom and sold by Book Depository CA

Um, why is a book that I’m ordering from Amazon. CA being shipped from the UK? And why is it being shipped from Book Depository? Then I noticed that little line beneath the price box…

screen shot of a text box that says "Paperback $17.92" and beneath it in much smaller text, 5 New from $12.40

screenshot of the Amazon main book page for Feeding the Flames Paperback version Sept 21, 2022. With all the descriptive text, and the cover. There is a red arrow pointing to the text box that says "Paperback $17.52" and a line of text beneath it says "5 new from $12.40". On the far bottom right, there's a red circle beneath the buy button, showing that the book the main page is trying to sell you is actually from Book Depository and will ship from the UK, rather than being from Amazon.ca.

There were brand new cheaper copies available.

So I clicked on that “5 new from $12.40” link, and a new screen popped up on the side… (the screen shot below)

Again, I don’t know if this is merely a continuation of the original glitch or if it’s an accidental or intentional change, but, if you’re wanting to buy the new version of a book directly from Amazon itself, you’re going to have to search that pop-up screen and look for “Ships from Amazon.ca (or .com or whatever)” and “Sold by Amazon.ca (or .com or whatever)” to find the actual Amazon listing, or whoever has the best price, because Amazon is not showing you their actual listing, nor the cheapest listing, or may not even be selling you a new book from the main book page. You might end up unknowingly buying from a third party vendor in another country and incurring customs charges. So be vigilant. screenshot of a popup that appears after clicking the "5 new for $12.40" link showing the cover of Feeding the Flames, along with its description, and an Add to Cart button. Beneath that there is a list of "4 other options" sorted by price + delivery: low to high. There is a filter for New, then the list starts with New $12.40, free delivery on your first order, Add to cart, and beneath that Ships from Amazon.ca, Sold by Amazon.ca, then beneath that are several more options for third party vendors for $22.60 and $24.61 from outside Canadian borders.

Again, this is not just happening with my book.
